Whisky Masterclass III – Beyond the Cask

From Cask Selection to the Bottle

What happens after whisky leaves the cask? Why do some whiskies display remarkable depth, texture and complexity while others fall short?

In this immersive 90-minute masterclass, you'll explore the final stages of whisky making and discover how the decisions made after maturation have a profound impact on the character of every bottle.

Guided by one of our whisky specialists, you'll gain a deeper understanding of first-fill and second-fill casks, double oak maturation, and why Callington Mill sources authentic wet sherry casks directly from Spain. You'll also discover why we proudly bottle our whisky without chill filtration, preserving the natural oils, texture and full flavour of every dram.

Throughout the experience, you'll enjoy a guided tasting of four premium Callington Mill whiskies, alongside comparative samples that reveal the journey from fortified wine to new make spirit and finally to mature whisky. Interactive demonstrations will bring these concepts to life, providing a unique insight into the craftsmanship behind our award-winning single malts.

Whether you're continuing your whisky education or simply looking to deepen your appreciation of premium Tasmanian whisky, this masterclass offers an engaging and memorable experience for whisky enthusiasts of all levels.
